Hello WCSD Families,

Thank you for supporting your child(ren) and the District through this interesting time in our lives. I plan to provide families with updated information each Wednesday.

Our school buildings were closed so abruptly this year due to COVID-19.  Teachers were asked to quickly transition their classroom into that of a virtual learning environment while also trying to meet the social-emotional needs of students during this pretty scary time.   The work has been tough, exhausting, confusing, and sometimes even filled with some bumps and hic-ups.  Even so, there have been so many inspiring examples of teachers making sure their students are engaged and feel safe and secure.  This week is Teacher Appreciation Week.  This special week, which recognizes our teachers and other certified staff for their dedication, talent, resiliency, adaptability, and compassion.  If you have not had the chance to thank your child(ren)'s teachers, please take a moment to send an email, give a call, a shout out on Facebook...etc...  I know they would love it!  Thanks!

It is also Nurses Appreciation Week, May 6-13. Mrs. Jennifer Krause and Hong Hotmann have always been there for our students and our staff. We thank them for their very special skill set and kind heart!

An email was sent out on May 1st regarding busing requests for the 2020-21 school year. Please review the email and fill out the request for transportation online form if you meet the parameters listed. You can also find the information on the Transportation Page off of the District Website. Requests are due by June 20th.

Please continue to complete the breakfast/lunch survey by 5PM on Fridays for the coming week.  The lunch survey can be found on Facebook or on the District’s website Important Updates  The survey will be posted by Wednesday at noon each week.

Tomorrow, Thursday, May 7, our High School and Middle School FFA will be adding a special farm treat to the bags - a brick of cheese.

One day next week, May 11-15, please watch your bags for a voucher/coupon for milk from the Wayne’s Piggly Wiggly, or butter from the Winneconne Kwik Trip, or a $2 coupon from Jake’s Pizza.  This donation is being sponsored by our FFA Alumni...Once a wolf, always a wolf!

Thank you to the FFA and their Alumni supporters!

Elementary and middle school courses are likely to occur, but not during the June - early July timeframe - maybe late July - early August??  We would like to provide these elementary and middle school courses in a face-to-face format. It is likely that the elementary and middle summer school offerings will be scaled back due to limited staff availability.  Additional information will be available as we learn more.

June 1, 2, and/or 3 -  We are working on a plan to have families pick up personal items from their child(ren)’s school/classroom as well as turn in chromebooks and other items belonging to school.

June 3 (4K-11th grade) and May 28 (seniors) are the end dates for the 2019-20 academic school year.  Please note as of today, our school buildings will continue to be closed until June 30, 2020.

Please know we are working on plans to recognize students and their outstanding accomplishments...stay connected for more information about Academic Awards, yearbooks, graduation announcements, caps and gowns, picking up items from lockers, etc.  We are analyzing the results from the senior/senior parent survey regarding graduation.  Stay tuned!  Senior Parent Passive Consent is needed:  We have a community group who is attempting to organize a super cool surprise for our seniors.  It involves each senior’s photo.  So, prior to moving forward I need to know if there is any parent who wishes for WCSD to NOT release their senior’s photo to this group.  It is likely we will also release their name to this group, but that release will come later.  Please contact me, Peggy Larson, at or 920 582 5802 ext 3141 if you NOT wish your child’s photo to be released.  Please contact me no later than Monday, May 11, 2020. THANKS.

Our plan for reporting students’ grades is completed - WCSD Grading Procedures for Families . This plan was created with the understanding that families have different levels of access to learning resources, and students have different abilities and confidence levels in remote instruction that can’t be accommodated for like we did in a face-to-face environment.

We are incredibly excited to share that we are able to provide FREE bagged breakfast and lunch options at pick up locations throughout our school district. This service is provided free to all families, and at no cost to the district. Please, please, please - consider this free option that ensures our kids are all getting a healthy breakfast and lunch, a little variety in their day, saves you time and money, and helps to keep our local grocery store shelves stocked.
Current Week's Operation Lunchbox Schedule

BREAKFAST/LUNCH SURVEY: Please see the Upcoming Week's Operation Lunchbox Schedule and Survey with information about our grab-and-go meal options. The next week's updates and survey will be available Wednesday at noon until Friday at 5 pm. *You MUST complete the survey by 5 pm each Friday, in order to pick up meals for the next week. It is important to look for any updates on the letter from week to week, as updates to stops and locations may change from week to week due to use and availability.

chromebookIMPORTANT CHROMEBOOK REMINDER for 6th - 12th grade students: Students who are utilizing a school-issued Chromebook must be sure to keep the Chromebook charged. Due to a flaw in the device's design, if the Chromebook battery is completely drained of all charge, the Chromebook will require a "jump start" which can only be accomplished by using TWO chargers. If you have an extra USB-C charging cable, you can use it in addition to the school-issued charger to "jump start" the device. Once you see the battery symbol, the Chromebook will charge from one charger. Please see the attached video for a brief tutorial. If you do not have access to a second charger and are in need of a "jump start", please contact our Director of Technology, Mr. Dave Jerabek at

Below are a few questions the District has received:

  • Do families continue to follow the school calendar? Yes, for example there is an early release on April 9 and no school on April 10. On April 9, students will have learning opportunities, but on a lesser scale. On April 10, students are not expected to engage on this day. However, they are welcome to continue working on projects, reading, doing physical activity...
  • How will my child(ren) be graded during this time?We are collaborating with other area school districts and exploring options to assess student learning. See the Grading Information for Families
  • Where do I go if I have questions? Communication Flowchart to be shared with Families
If this chart does not help or answer your question, please feel free to reach out to me - (920) 582-5802 ext 3141 or your child(ren)’s principal.
